MoveOn is where millions mobilize for a better society. For over 25 years, they've been at the forefront of digital organizing, pioneering tactics that transformed American politics—from the first breakout online petition during the Clinton impeachment to rapid-response campaigns that change outcomes in real time. They needed a creative partner who could match their speed and scale, translating urgent political moments into visual campaigns that inspire action across all 50 states.
Wide Eye partnered with MoveOn as their embedded creative strategy and design team. The work demanded responding within hours to breaking political moments, designing for different audiences, and distilling complex policy issues into clear, emotionally resonant visuals.
We delivered creative at scale while maintaining MoveOn's brand identity across hundreds of campaigns. From social media graphics to merchandise, event signage to digital toolkits, we built systems that helped MoveOn reach and engage millions of supporters across every platform.

Brand approach
As MoveOn's full-time creative strategy and design team, we built a partnership for speed and scale. The work spanned rapid-response moments requiring turnaround within hours, long-term campaign development demanding careful planning, and everything between.
Our approach balanced three needs:
Urgency
Political moments demand immediate response. We built workflows and flexible visual systems that let us ship graphics within hours of breaking news while keeping professional quality and accessibility standards.
Consistency
With hundreds of deliverables across dozens of campaigns, brand coherence was critical. We set up design systems using MoveOn's signature blue and black support palette, contrasted with red and black for opposition. This created instant visual clarity.
Scale
The work needed to function across every medium. We built systems flexible enough to adapt from Instagram stories to billboard wraps, from petition graphics to physical event experiences.

Scoop the Vote: Ice Cream for Democracy
In 2024, we designed the visual identity for "Scoop the Vote," an ice cream truck tour partnering with Ben & Jerry's co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield. The campaign traveled to over 20 battleground cities, pairing joy with civic engagement to reach young surge voters.
We created event branding including a custom ice cream truck wrap, digital graphics, social media content, and branded merchandise. Our design approach balanced patriotic energy with approachable warmth, making voter engagement feel celebratory rather than dutiful.
The tour partnered with Jeni's Ice Creams and Malai, culminating in three GOTV livestreams featuring celebrity guests like Mark Ruffalo, Shonda Rhimes, and the casts of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice." The campaign served over 4,000 scoops of ice cream while generating more than 20,000 voting reminders and garnered national press coverage across more than 12,000 news articles in 35 states.

The Banned Bookmobile: Fighting Censorship on the Road
For MoveOn's Banned Bookmobile Tour, we developed a bold visual identity that challenged book bans across multiple states. The campaign included a full vehicle wrap, event signage, branded merchandise (bookmarks, tote bags, and "I Read Banned Books" t-shirts), and social media graphics.
Our design system balanced urgency with hope, acknowledging the threat of censorship while celebrating the power of stories and different voices. The visual identity helped MoveOn distribute thousands of banned books, with all inventory selling out in just 10 minutes at their NEA convention debut.
The campaign generated more than 477,000 petition signatures across book ban-related efforts and helped attract nearly 200 celebrities—including LeVar Burton, Judy Blume, and Ariana Grande—to the broader movement defending the freedom to read. The tour stopped in 14 cities across 10 states, bringing banned literature directly to communities most affected by censorship.

MoveOn 25: Celebrating People-Powered Progress
We designed the brand identity and event experience for MoveOn's 25th Anniversary Member Summit in Atlanta—their first in-person gathering in five years. We created a visual system including event branding, wayfinding signage, digital materials, and celebratory graphics that unified 25 sessions, 50 speakers, and hundreds of members.
Our design approach honored MoveOn's quarter-century of impact while energizing members for the 2024 election ahead. The summit reinforced MoveOn's identity as a people-powered movement, featuring performances by Common and Trinity K Bone't, the Banned Bookmobile activation where 1,000 books were distributed, and training sessions that prepared members to become vote mobilizers.

Rapid-Response Graphics: Design at the Speed of Democracy
As MoveOn's embedded creative team, we shipped over 2,000 graphics supporting rapid-response campaigns, candidate endorsements, and issue advocacy. Our social media design system used MoveOn's blue and white support palette for messages of solidarity, contrasted with red and black for opposition. This created instant visual clarity.
We developed templates and design systems flexible enough to respond to breaking news within hours while keeping professional quality and accessibility standards. This approach helped MoveOn grow their Instagram following by 200,000+ followers and engage more than 42 million people across all social channels with election-related content.
Our persuasive ad designs were seen more than 84 million times during the 2024 election cycle, reaching 1.6 million surge voters in battleground states with message-tested creative focused on abortion rights and economic appeals. We created event materials, petition graphics, branded merchandise, and out-of-home designs that scaled MoveOn's visual presence: rally signage, digital toolkits that helped local organizers nationwide, and more.
